While I know there are many free resources and tutorials out there (and they're wonderful starting points), I also know from teaching art and needlepoint to countless individuals that everyone's brain and learning style is different. With over 20 years of painting experience and almost 11 years dedicated specifically to painting needlepoint canvases, I’ve developed a deep understanding of how color, texture, design principles, and technique bring stitched art to life. From a needlepointer’s point of view, we’ll explore the method to the madness—making the process approachable, intentional, and fun.
In this digital guide, I share an in-depth look at the art of painting needlepoint canvases, from choosing the right materials to refining your brushwork and creating designs that truly reflect your unique style and voice. We'll also dive into the difference between imitation and inspiration, and the lessons I've learned along the way—like how receiving a C&D from Veuve Clicquot in January of 2020 made me completely rethink my design approach.
